Albatross Seafoods was established over 30 years ago in 1988 by John Boyle after he spent a number of years buying fresh fish from the boats in Killybegs and selling to consumers around Donegal. He saw the demand for quality fish increase, and with the knowledge and experience he had gained working in the seafood industry in Killybegs. He set up Albatross Seafoods working from a small unit on the pier in Killybegs buying fresh fish from the boats, hand filleting and packing it in ice and delivering to hotels, restaurants and fish shops in the northwest and west of Ireland.
We moved to a factory at Carricknamohill in 1991 from where we were able to increase production and expand our sales to the midlands of Ireland. In 1992 we extended the factory to include a smoke house, to smoke fresh Atlantic salmon, cod, haddock, whiting, mackerel and kippers. In 2002 the factory was rebuilt to include a new intake chill, filleting room and cold store to ensure product flow and full traceability. We operate under the guidelines of HACCP and this with qualified staff, some who have been here for 25 years ensures that customers get only top quality fresh, frozen and smoked seafood delivered to their door.
